Neil is the brother of Barney Bornhoft, who was cited by a judge for obtaining unemployment benefits to which he was not entitled, and for engaging in an “egregious” scheme that created “serious financial and legal jeopardy” for Barney’s employer, Iowa Coolers and Equipment. Barney Bornhoft fraudulently claimed to be the President of Iowa Coolers and Equipment, and attempted to enter into business partnerships without the knowledge or permission of the company’s actual owner.
Court records show that Neil Bornhoft was involved in the fraudulent scheme, working to prevent a financial advisor from scrutinizing the scheme. “Barney and I can make any decisions that have to be made. A financial advisor will, in our estimation, slow the process down,” Neil Bornhoft wrote in a letter to TelStar Capital Resources, a subsidiary of Tri-Coast Properties, L.L.C, the company with which Barney Bornhoft sought to establish a fraudulent agreement. The judge in the case found that Neil Bornhoft was a central part of the scheme, writing that, “On November 16, 2005, the claimant and Neil Bornhoft entered into an unauthorized, confidentiality agreement with TelStar Capital Resources.”
Neil Bornhoft is an elder in the Shepherd’s Way Fellowship of Ava, Missouri.
Before he retired, Neil Bornhoft was President of Bornhoft Global Technologies in Westside, Iowa. Bornhoft Global Technologies listed three staff members, including Neil Borhhoft himself. The small company installed high-speed internet systems.
The Shepherd’s Way Fellowship of Ava, Missouri has this to say about Neil Bornhoft: “Neil is our head elder and currently resides in Iowa. He does counseling through the telephone and video chat, and functions in an advisory and teaching capacity. Neil usually does a short teaching during the first hour of our meeting and leads us with opening prayer.”
Bornhoft’s contributions to the Shepherd’s Way Fellowship also come in the form of a series of videos that he recorded from his living room or bedroom, talking about the Christian Bible, and posted on his Facebook account. The videos appear to have been viewed between 50 and 100 times each.
