It kind of makes you wonder if Donald Trump has any standards for membership in the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition. Can anyone just wander into a Trump campaign headquarters and claim to be a religious leader? It sure looks that way.
John Gilworth is listed by the Donald Trump campaign as an “elder” in Wapello County, Iowa…
…but there is no record anywhere online of anyone named John Gilworth working as a leader within any church or other religious organization anywhere in Wapello County.
Isn’t that peculiar?
John Gilworth’s weird presence is just one of over three hundred stories of preachers and posers out there in the weeds of Iowa’s Christian Nationalism. They claim that the ruler of the entire universe is on their side, but still, they can’t quite seem to get their acts together.
