The Pleasantville Church of Christ’s website doesn’t mention Jimmy Tyree even once.
On a LinkedIn profile that hasn’t been updated since 2012, Jimmy Tyree claims to have been a “youth minister” at the Pleasantville Church of Christ twelve years ago. So, we know that Jimmy Tyree coordinated a church youth group a dozen years ago. There is no other evidence of him being a religious leader than that.
Jimmy Tyree also frequently mentions an affiliation with the Rising Sun Church of Christ in Pleasantville, Iowa. Tyree is not among the leaders of that church, however. He isn’t even listed as a volunteer by the church.
A more current description of Jimmy Tyree’s profession has him working as a truck driver for LeFebvre Companies.
After Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito was caught flying the Christian Nationalist Appeal To Heaven flag outside one of his homes, Jimmy Tyree took to Facebook to explain that he has owned an Appeal To Heaven flag for many years as well.
Of course, given his status as a partisan Christian Nationalist Republican member of Donald Trump’s political campaign, Jimmy Tyree’s ownership of the Appeal To Heaven flag only affirms the strong historical connection of the flag to anti-democratic Christian Nationalism.
Jimmy Tyree is listed by the Trump for President campaign as a pastor in Marion County, Iowa.
There is, however, not much evidence linking Jimmy Tyree to any religious leadership. There is one record from 2016 of a Pastor James Tyree in Marion County supporting the campaign of Ted Cruz for the Republican presidential nomination that year.
The thing is that Jimmy Tyree attends the Pleasantville Church of Christ in Pleasantville, Iowa. Tyree is not the pastor of that church. Nathan Langford is.
Jimmy Tyree is one of over three hundred members of the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition, a shadowy network of Christian Nationalists who are doing everything they can to ensure that Donald Trump is elected President in 2024.
Their goal is not only to put Trump in office, but to use him as means to achieve their ultimate objective: To replace American democracy with a totalitarian Christian theocracy with Donald Trump at its head.
To find out more about this anti-democracy network, read the new book Donald Trump’s Army of God: Christian Nationalism in the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition.
