The 2024 Trump for President campaign says that it got the endorsement of James Johnson, a minister from Warren County, Iowa.

The trouble is, it’s not really clear if there is a church minister in Warren County named James Johnson. We looked everywhere we could think of. We even searched to see if he might call himself Jim, just to sound folksy.

There is not one single mention of anyone named James Johnson working as a minister at any church or other religious organization in Warren County, Iowa.

The closest thing we could find is a brief mention of a Jim Johnson who owns a funeral home for pets in Indianola, Iowa. That’s not really the same thing as being a minister, though.

You would think that if there was a Christian minister who was well respected in their community, who actually worked with people, that one person, even just once, would mention this minister in a newspaper article, a blog post, or a social media comment.

If this Minister James Johnson from Warren County, Iowa actually exists, then he’s so socially isolated and irrelevant that nobody cares to say a single word about him.

Why would Donald Trump brag about an endorsement from someone like that? What’s the real story behind this faceless entry in Trump’s Iowa Faith Leader Coalition?
