Don Buhrow pops up again as an Abraham Lincoln impersonator in a 2011 Politico article in which Buhrow made a comment about how the United States is a “nation under God”. Buhrow didn’t mention being a pastor, though.
Buhrow is still working as a part-time Lincoln impersonator, it seems. This year, he was interviewed by the PBS Evening News, saying of his devotion to Trump that, “There are no other ones as far as I'm concerned. I have been a Trump supporter ever since he walked down the escalator in 2015.”
None of the news articles that have interviewed Don Buhrow have described him as a pastor, or as a religious leader of any kind. An article from New York Magazine revealed that Buhrow had been a caucus captain for Donald Trump during this year’s Iowa caucuses. That article then went on to describe Buhrow’s conspiracy theory that somehow, after a mob of Christian Nationalists were shown on live video attacking police officers, breaking down doors, smashing windows, and chasing members of Congress through the US Capitol after erecting a gallows outside and planting two bombs in Washington DC on January 6, 2021, the prosecution of people for these crimes was “a total sham”.
The trials of Christian Nationalists who used violence to overturn the results of the 2000 presidential election were not “a total sham”. Many of the defendants admitted their guilt and asked for forgiveness for their mistakes. Defendants accused of January 6 crimes were given due process of law, which is more than they were prepared to give members of Congress. Prosecutors in those trials proved their cases with evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.
What does appear to be a total sham is Donald Trump’s claim that Don Buhrow is a pastor. There are many sources that document Don Burrow’s part-time gig as a Lincoln impersonator. When a person engages in a public-facing social role consistently, evidence of that activity accumulates.
There is no available evidence supporting the claim that Don Buhrow is a religious leader.
Are we wrong about this? Get in touch, Mr. Buhrow, and let us know. At what church are you a pastor? Tell us, and we will happily revise our profile of you.
As it stands, next to Honest Abe, Don Buhrow looks like a lame imitation.
Don Buhrow is listed by the Trump for President campaign as a pastor in Polk County.
There is no publicly available record anywhere, however, of anyone named Don Buhrow ever working in any leadership position in any church or other religious organization anywhere in Iowa.
Don Buhrow is a part-time Abraham Lincoln impersonator. The image you see of him here is from 2009, at the Home and Garden Show in Des Moines.
The Iowa Faith Leader Coalition is a radical political organization that violates the law
Let’s make it our business to become aware of the radical Christian Nationalists who are members of the Coalition.
