David Pautsch Trump Christian Nationalism Iowa

David Pautsch seems never to have learned many of the basic facts of American history. He ignores the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, and the provision in the main body of the Constitution that guarantees that there will never be any religious test for public office.

Pautsch declares that Jesus is the King of the United States, but of course, Jesus predated the United States by well over a thousand years, and never expressed any awareness of the existence of North America.

In the United States, we don’t have kings. That’s what the Revolution of 1776 was all about.

If individual Americans want to indulge in fantasies about ancient Asian prophets becoming King of America, that’s their own business. If a politician starts advocating such a system of Christian monarchy in the United States, however, they’re doing so in opposition to the most fundamental tenets of American law.

As revealed by Indiana journalist Mark Alesia, David Pautsch has exhibited problems with anger management in the past.

Instead of turning the other cheek and loving his enemies as Jesus told his followers to do, David Pautsch suggested that the President of the United States, Barack Obama, should be hauled into a public square and hung by his neck until he was dead. Pautsch called for the killing of the President on the basis of the false belief that Obama, as a black man, could not possibly be a citizen of the United States.

Pautsch has also come to running to the support of violent white supremacists, arguing that neo-Nazi skinheads are just normal people who ought to feel good about themselves. When asked what he thought about the phrases “white supremacist” and “white nationalist”, David Pautsch responded: “Why are those offensive words?”

Pautsch also believes that all non-Christian religions are inherently demonic. “Anyone who worships anything or anyone besides the Most High God, Jesus Christ, is worshiping devils,” he says. He argues that only Christians should be allowed to hold elected office in the United States, saying, “It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible.”

Additionally, David Pautsch claims that Barack Obama is not a human, but is a literal demon. Pautsch called the Obama White House “demon infested,” and then said, “My ‘demon-infested’ comment wasn’t a play on speech. I’m talking about the real deal. The wickedness Obama has tried to foist on the US and Israel is so twisted it deserves the gallows.”

David Pautsch is a Failed Republican politician who uses Christian Nationalism to promote his personal ambitions.

In 2024, Pautsch ran a campaign to unseat Republican U.S. Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks. Pautsch’s primary complaint was that Miller-Meeks had not sufficiently used her power in government to force Christianity on all Americans.

“Our country was never meant to be run without god,” Pautsch said as he campaigned. “If the lord says it's so, there's nothing that will stop it.” Apparently, Republican voters in Iowa’s first congressional district didn’t agree with that opinion. David Pautsch lost GOP the primary election to Miller-Meeks by a 12-point margin.

Pautsch’s claims provoke an obvious question: If the Christian god truly wanted Christians to be in charge of the United States, with American democracy replaced by Christian theocracy, and this god can’t be stopped, then how come the USA is still a democracy? How come the Christian god hasn’t imposed his will on us all yet?

Apparently not willing to wait for the Christian god to do his own work, David Pautsch has pledged to use the legislative power of the U.S. Congress to “restore Christian morality as public policy. Moral neutrality is impossible, confusing and lethal!”

What’s more confusing is the Pautsch campaign’s declaration that “Healing is available for sexual bondage.”

Pautsch also seeks to coddle the criminals who attacked police officers and violently stormed the U.S. Congress on January 6, 2021 in an attempt to overthrow the government. Pautsch is demanding that the convicts currently serving time in prison for their roles in this attack against democracy be pardoned and released back onto America’s streets.

Pautsch also calls for Donald Trump to be recognized as the current rightful President of the United States, ignoring the will of the voters in 2020.
