The Open Door Baptist Church also preaches that people should be an “imminent” return of Jesus Christ to Earth to impose an “earthly Messianic Kingdom”, not as a metaphor, but visibly”, in a physical form. Under this kingdom, democracy in America would be destroyed.
Government, according to Chad Springer’s church, must be placed under the authority of Christianity. “We believe that God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: 1) the home 2) the Church and 3) the state. Every person is subject to these authorities, but all (including the authorities themselves) are answerable to God and governed by His Word.” The Open Door Baptist Church does not believe that people have the right to a government that does anything that contradicts any aspect of Christian power.
The church also celebrates, and eagerly anticipates, the cruel never-ending torture of all non-Christian Americans, writing that “unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious punishment and torment until the second resurrection, when with soul and body into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment and torment.”
Chad Springer is pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Springer and his church teach that people are not capable of properly controlling their own lives, and that they need to surrender to the control of an all-powerful leader who will direct their lives down to the smallest detail.
“Man is totally depraved, and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition,” the church writes. This grim assessment of the worthlessness and incompetence of humanity places Chad Springer and the Open Door Baptist Church in opposition to democracy in America.
