The only other record of Al Telschaw’s activities is a notification on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter. The notification explains that Telschaw, posting under the username @grampa_al, violated the rules about what posts are allowed on X.

X is notorious for allowing people to say and do almost anything. The content moderation team on X has been reduced to almost nothing. Actual Nazis are allowed to post pro-Hitler propaganda on X. In order to have your account suspended on X, you’ve got to do something truly horrible, like share a video that shows violent crime or post photographs of child pornography.

We can see that Al Telschaw has managed to violate even the extremely lax rules on X, but there is no sign at all that Telschaw is in any sense an elder in a religious organization that would qualify him to work as a “faith leader” in Donald Trump’s campaign.

What gives? How on earth did Al Telschaw get onto the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition?

The 2024 Trump for President campaign lists Al Telschaw as an “elder” in Webster County, Iowa…

…but there is no online record of anyone named Al or Albert or Allan Telschaw occupying any leadership role in any church or other religious organization anywhere in Iowa.

There is a record of an Allan Telschaw living in Fort Dodge, Iowa, which is in Webster County. There’s a clear record of Allan Telschaw graduating high school in Fort Dodge in 1969.

Donald Trump has pledged to use the power of the federal government to give special power and privileges to “bring back Christianity”. It is therefore vital for Americans to understand the version of Christianity that is fueling the Trump for President campaign.

Donald Trump’s Army of God: Christian Nationalism in the Iowa Faith Leader Coalition examines the identities of the 317 Iowans who joined the Trump for President campaign and delivered him victory in the Iowa caucuses in January, 2024.

Christianity in Iowa isn’t what you might expect it to be. The authors uncovered murder and monsters, magical spells, terrorist networks, Nazi propaganda, fraud, corruption, and a hunger for a global war of religious genocide.

This is a story we can’t afford to ignore.
